I am a synchronized skater on Team Image Junior and have also competed in freestyle competitions. I am passionate about serving as a resource for any skater and promoting our sport through my love of skating and this initiative.
My Projects and Impact
Physics in a Spin Workshop at Figure Skating in Harlem
Allison brought science to the rink by leading Skating Beyond's Physics in a Spin workshop for skaters participating in the Summer Dreams program at Figure Skating in Harlem in New York City. Through hands-on activities and discussion, participants explored the physics behind spinning, including concepts such as angular momentum, balance, and rotation. By connecting science to skills they practice on the ice, Allison helped skaters discover the exciting relationship between STEM and figure skating.
Summer Skate Collection Drive at Sky Rink
Allison and Chloe organized a skate collection drive at Sky Rink in New York City to help give used skates a second life and make skating more accessible to others. Their efforts have already collected eight pairs of skates.
To encourage ongoing participation, Allison and Chloe are continuing having a collection bin at Sky Rink, making it easy for skaters and families to donate outgrown or unused skates throughout the year. Through this initiative, they are helping reduce waste, promote reuse within the skating community, and support Skating Beyond's mission of sustainability and access.
