Hello!
My name is Skye and I am a synchro skater on Dazzlers, but I also do freestyle and ice dance. I love all the forms of figure skating. I always try to make new skater friends at shows and competitions and enjoy the skating community.
My Projects and Impact
Science Workshops at Fox Valley Ice Arena
This summer, Skye introduced young skaters to the science and sustainability of skating by leading two 'Skating Through Science' workshops at the Fox Valley Ice Arena Summer Camp in Geneva, Illinois. She taught the Ice Science experiment and Design a Sustainable Rink activity, engaging 12 young skaters alongside three instructors. Through hands-on learning and discussion, participants explored how science shapes the ice they skate on and brainstormed ways to make skating facilities more environmentally sustainable.
Sustainability Awareness Poster Project
To help promote sustainability beyond the workshops, Skye created an educational poster highlighting recycling and sustainability ideas that skaters and rink communities can put into practice. With permission from rink management, the poster will be displayed in two local ice rinks, helping raise awareness and encourage environmentally responsible habits among skaters, families, and visitors.
